Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Pet Bond Daily collects, why we collect it, how we keep it safe, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it the way we talk, warmly and clearly. If anything is unclear, email us at support@petbonddaily.com.

Who we are

Pet Bond Daily ("we", "us", "our") provides the Pet Bond Daily mobile app, which delivers a personalized daily bonding activity for your dog or cat. Pet Bond Daily is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can reach us any time at support@petbonddaily.com.

Data we collect

We keep this to what we genuinely need to make the app work for you and your pet:

• Account basics, your email address and name, provided through Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google when you create an account.
• Pet profile, your pet's name, species (dog or cat), breed, birthday or age, personality traits, and indoor/outdoor preference.
• Activity engagement history, which activities you were shown, whether you marked them completed, and the dates involved.
• Streaks & metrics, your progress, streaks and bonding metrics.
• Notification preference, whether you've turned daily push notifications on or off. This preference is stored on your device.
• Subscription status, whether you have an active subscription or trial, managed through RevenueCat (see "Third parties" below).
• Usage & analytics data, how you use the app, for example which onboarding steps you complete, screens you view, and features or activities you tap, along with basic technical details such as app version, device type and general performance. This is collected through PostHog under a random, app-generated analytics ID (not your name or email), it is on by default, and you can turn it off any time in the app's Settings.

What we do NOT collect

• Precise location. We don't request or store GPS / precise location data.
• Payment card details. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple and Google; we never see or store your card number.
• Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking. We don't use advertising IDs (such as Apple's IDFA), we don't build advertising profiles, and we don't track you across other apps and websites. Our product analytics use only a first-party, random ID inside this app.
• Your real or legal name. A nickname is perfectly fine, we don't require your legal identity.

How we use your data

• To create your daily activity, personalized to your pet's breed, age and personality.
• To save your progress, streaks, bonding metrics and your yearly Wrapped recap.
• To sync your data across your devices and keep it safe if you reinstall.
• To manage your subscription and unlock premium features.
• To respond to your support requests.
• To understand, using pseudonymous analytics, how the app and its onboarding flow are used, so we can fix problems and improve the experience.

How it's stored

Pet Bond Daily is local-first: your data lives on your device and is synced to our backend so you don't lose it. On your device, data is held in encrypted local storage. Our backend is provided by Supabase, where access is protected by row-level security and token-based authentication, so each account can only reach its own data.

Third parties / processors

We work with a small number of trusted service providers. We share only what each one needs:

• Supabase, authentication, database and storage for your synced data.
• RevenueCat, subscription management and receipt validation.
• Anthropic (Claude API), generates your pet's daily activities from your pet's attributes (species, breed, age, personality). It receives your pet's profile data but not your identity or email address.
• Apple & Google, Sign-In and in-app purchases.
• PostHog, privacy-friendly product analytics that help us see how features like onboarding are used so we can improve them. Analytics are on by default and you can turn them off any time in the app's Settings. Events are tied to a random, app-generated analytics ID, not to your name or email. See PostHog's privacy policy.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect it.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

• Performance of a contract, to deliver the service you signed up for, including your daily activities and your subscription.
• Consent, for the sign-in scopes you grant. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests, to understand, using pseudonymous product analytics, how the app and its onboarding are used so we can keep it working well and improve it. Analytics are on by default; you can opt out any time in the app's Settings.

Your rights

You're in control of your data. You can:

• Access & export, the app includes an in-app data export to a JSON file.
• Erasure, the app's in-app account deletion is permanent and removes your data from our servers.
• Rectification, edit your pet and profile details directly in the app at any time.
• Object or restrict, ask us to stop or limit certain processing.

To exercise these rights, use the in-app tools in Settings or email support@petbonddaily.com. If you're in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our servers. Some limited records may be retained where the law requires (for example, certain tax or transaction records held by the app stores).

Pseudonymous analytics collected through PostHog is not linked to your account, so it is kept under PostHog's own retention settings rather than tied to your profile. Because it is not connected to your identity, deleting your account does not remove it, but you can stop any further analytics collection at any time by turning analytics off in the app's Settings.

Children

Pet Bond Daily is intended for users aged 13 and over, and 16 and over in the European Economic Area. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children below these ages. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

We protect your data with encrypted local storage on-device, encrypted connections in transit, row-level security and token-based authentication on the backend. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to limit access to only what's necessary.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
